Shawarma Bros

I would like to share with you my experience with Shawarma Bros!

This is the most talked in town Shawarma house in Venice Piazza, Mckinley Hill.

This is actually my first time to try their food but I have already received great feedback from my officemates and friends.

Their store is a bit small compared to the avaerage restaurants in the area. It is located at second floor of Venice Piazza.

We tried their chicken and beef rice shawarma with side dish.

To be honest, I like their shawarma better than in Halal guys. Although prices are of the same range, I think I would still go to this one.

We also tried their chicken tederns and have sworn how delicious it is! I like the sweet garlicy flavor of it. Perfect for my tastebuds although my boyfriend did not like it that much.

You will get all three sauces in this order but if you opted to try their beef or chicken rice meal it only comes in two types of sauces.

Prices are at 150-250 per meal depending if you would like to upgrade so you will have side dish of your choice. They also offer 35php + to upsize drink.

I am also inlove with their yougurt drink priced at 110php it is so good!

Before I forget, if you will try to dine here, do nit forget to ask if your company is affiliated or in partnership with Shawarma Bros to get discounts!

I hope you find this helpful and let me know if you have any questions or comments 😉
With love,

Van ❤️

Review: Tong Yang Hotpot

Hi everyone!

This is actually my first time to visit Tong Yang Hotpot in Makati.

My officemates and I went there last Sunday for dinner. Since we came in a group of ten people, they offered their private room for us. It was nice although we felt a bit secluded but it is also good since we felt that our things are more secured.

There are not much food choices compared to other buffets I have been to. Although I did not expect much since it is also cheap. I think 500+ php if hotpot only and 600+ if grill + hotpot.

Everything is pretty much self service here. You will be the one who will scoop for your icecream and other desserts.

They have several choices for drinks though but you got to check their glasses as they are not clean. Well, most of them! I had a hard time finding a decent one. Their ice was placed in a jug type the one you will use for family outing! I was really shocked but just made fun of it.

I also noticed that there were not much available staff to accommodate us. Food has not been replenished right away and we needed to get their attention for them to refill.

They also have few spaces and tables for diners and parking spaces are limited as well. It was really crowded when we visited. Which is not convenient if you are sitting together with other customers.

Overall it was fun, although I would rather spend more money to have a quality buffet. Their place is pretty outdated and not that appealing.

With what I experienced, I might not go back.

I do not have photos of their food but I got some from our private room.

Update on my 6D hyperreal eyebrow embroidery

Hey guys!

I just would like to provide an update on my eyebrows journey 😹

It has been almost three weeks now and it has been the best. Not the perfect one but I totally love my new brows.

It is true that you will love how it is on the first day of the procedure. It seems like the shape and color are perfect!

However, It will be at its darkest state on the second and third day after the procedure. This time I strongly recommend not to plan any outings or photoshoot as people would start noticing your dark and broad brows!

This is how it looks like on day 2:

Then it gets lighter every day although it is starting to get really itchy. There is also scabbing which is expected as it heals.

Then on June 1Oth:

It now looks more natural which I really love! No need to spend few minutes for eyebrows which saves me a lot of time. Horay!

Please let me know your thoughts on this! I will update again after a month. 👍

Love,

Van❤️

DFA Aseana renewal of passport

We have already booked our tickets for our trip to Seoul next month. This is unexpected so we were not able to renew our passports earlier.
Although we have already confirmed appointment on June 23rd, I don’t think our passports will be available before July. I have a multiple entry Korean visa but my daughter doesn’t have yet so we need to accomplish everything to ensure that everything is settled before our upcoming trip.

Good thing DFA has this courtesy lane for government employees and their beneficiaries, children under 7 years old, pwd, pregnant, and senior citizens. We called DFA Aseana to confirm if I can also avail when I’m with my 7 year old daughter and they said ‘yes’.

Come weekend, we made sure that our documents are complete as we try our luck on Monday.

So today is the day and currently still waiting in line to be accommodated. We went to the second floor of DFA Aseana to submit our accomplished forms, person from the front desk advised us to wait until they call our names. We waited for atleast 20minutes then they gave us numbers and asked us to wait outside.

It has been three hours already since we arrived and everyone is already frustrated. We are still waiting for 15 more people before our number be called. Our line is only for its first step which is processing.. imagine how many hours more do we need to endure!

In the processing window, they asked the following documents:

  1. Photo copy of the front page of old passport
  2. Photocopy of NSO birth certificate
  3. Old Passport if you are for renewal
  4. Filled application form

Payment is a bit fast as we were able to settle in just 5 minutes. We paid 1,200 each to expedite the release of our passport and opted for pick up.
Then we waited an hour or more for the last step which is data processing and capturing of photo.

They will get the receipts and will ask for your right and left index and thumbmark as well as signature. We look already so exhausted when they took our photo so I will remember this nightmare for 5 years since our passports’ validity is 5 years.

They asked me to review and ensure that all our data is correct and asked me to sign as an agreement that I would need to shoulder any additional expenses if there are errors in our passports. Then finally they gave back our old passports, receipts and told us to claim our passports June 15th!

We left DFA Aseana at 4pm! 7 loooong hours to renew our passports! But I am still happy that we are more certain that we will make it to Korea 😉

Although I still do hope that they do something about this. No one would like to spend the entire day renewing their passports!

How is your experience in renewing your passports? I hope it is not as bad as what I experienced. Please feel free to write below, I’d be happy to know your thoughts!

Eyelash lift and Semi-permanent Mascara

Hello everyone!

Last Sunday I’ve had a procedure called Eyelash Lift with Semi-permanent Mascara at Permanent Makeup Manila by Pauline Ylaya.

I have been so amazed with how they turn short lashes to gorgeous ones based from their client reviews! I first learned about Permanent Makeup Manila when a Filipino youtuber Michelle Dy posted a review or vlog on her Youtube chanel about the procedure as well as what she’ve done with her eyebrows.

I literally couldn’t sleep and wanted to try both the Hyperreal 6D eyebrow embroidery as well as their lash lift with mascara. Unfortunately, since Pauline is personally the one who will do your brows, they have limited slots to accommodate clients which hopefully they can increase. But I understand how Pauline wanted to take more time with her clients to ensure that she will provide perfect looking brows because “kilay is life!”

I had my eyelashes instead. I tried to call their office/clinic and good thing Vicky her gorgeous and very kind assistant was able to schedule me that Sunday.

Here is a before photo before the procedure:

You can barely see my lashes. That is how short they are! The procedure took around 1 hour and a half to finish everything.

At first, I had to fill up an information sheet/waiver then Vicky politely asked me to move to their ‘grooming’ area where procedures are usually done.

We started at exactly 6pm. I was in a comfy seat with lights on top of my face but it is something not bothering. Then she wipped off any makeup from my eyes and around the area to ensure that I will achieve perfectly curled eyelashes. Then put white sticky patches on top of my lower lashes.

I took some photos first before I closed my eyes. During the entire procedure, I had to close my eyes so any lotion that she would need to apply on my lashes will not enter my eyes. She put a small silicone just the size of my eyes then tried to roll my eyelashes on it. I think this will serve as the rod for curling.

We waited for 7 minutes after applying the first layer of lotion then another 7 minutes after the second one. I felt like Vicky is removing carefully my lashes from the silicone a few minutes after applying the curling lotion.

After it is time to put some mascara!! Vicky said that it really depends on someone’s lash cycle up to when the lash lift and mascara will last. But on an average it would be between 4-6 weeks. Long enough though! Few weeks that you will be eye make-up free!!

When I checked myself on the mirror, I cannot believe how gorgeous it turned out. Although it is more curled that what I have expected, I know that the lift will not be the same few days from now. I also requested Vicky to put some mascara as well on my lower lashes but it is a bit painful to the eyes, especially on the left side. I am totally not sure why but according to Vicky, all her clients felt the same. But still, I really love how it turned out. I imagine how many minutes I could save by not curling my eyelashes and appying mascara everyday to look presentable. Also, no more racoon or panda eyes for me! This is indeed perfect for summer.

Here is my photo after the session:

Thank you so much, Permanent Makeup Manila for accommodating me and making me beautiful! I cannot wait to have them fix my eyebows as well.

I had my photo taken with Vicky and my daughter Mikhaila who paitenly waited for me and filming me. She is ever supportive of my vanity!

You can still book on their website or call Vicky thru the details below:

Spending Mother’s Day at APU restaurant, City of Dreams

Let me share with you my thoughts and impressions on this classic Filipino Cusine in City of Dreams Manila.

I was browsing the internet the day before Mother’s day to see where I can bring my mom for lunch. I know that malls would be full and it would be difficult to reserve seats for lunch especially if we are in a group of more than 5. Also, I wanted to make my mom feel more special by bringing her to a decent restaurant. Somewhere she has never been.

I was initially checking restaurants in Sofitel such as Spiral but as expected, price is really steep! So I checked City of Dreams instead. I have been to couple of restaurants in COD such as Erwins and Red Ginger but for me nothing fancy or special for both. Although personally I still prefer Erwins since I am more of a chicken-burger person. I tried to browse all other restaurants within City of Dreams until I came across APU. What caught my attention is that they are serving Filipino food, the place looks fancy yet cozy. I also checked their menu and they have a lot of food choices and although it is also pricey, I find it way better than the others within the same range.

My mom standing from the outside of APU

My daughter and I. On mom’s day, they have prepared a corner good for picture taking.
It was my mom, dad and sister who arrived first at the venue so they decided where to seat. I also learned that on weekends and holidays they do not accept any reservations and with that, one should be there early to ensure that they could accommodate you. After more than 20 minutes of waiting, three buko juices were served. It is funny how it took them approximately 20minutes to prepare buko juices served in a nut shell. We even came first before their drinks got served.

Then a guy waiter approached us and handed us a tablet where we could check on their menu. We ordered several dishes such as Bicol express, Beef Nilagang, Fried Lumpia, Ensaladang Mangga, Lechon Kawali, and Chopseuy.

Surprisingly, their serving size is big except for rice. We ordered 6 cups of plain rice which costs 480 pesos but it seems like still not enough for us. I had to order 1 additional cup of garlic rice for hundred bucks.

We enjoyed our food while we catch-up. We asked for additional soup for 80 pesos since we wanted more. Their mango in Ensaladang Mangga is too sour that we could not finish it. Their Bicol Express is also not that spicy. I know they can do better than that given its price.

But overall, we still had a great experience in this restaurant. They have also approachable and accommodating staff. One of them even offered to take our photos as many as we want. Although you will need to constantly remind them to refil your water. But it is just a minor area for improvement.
We paid around 5K for all we ordered inclusive of 500 php service charge.

Still, two thumbs up! You can easily fall in love with the place – their interior design, ambiance and their crowd. I will recommend this to my friends and will definitely be back soon. 👍🏼
