REVIEW: Innisfree’s Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask

I may not have mentioned but I was in Korea for 9 days with my family a week ago. This gave me a lot of chance to check out korean products.

I was in Myeongdong almost every night to scout for best deals. I was amazed how low their prices are. I then learned that they have summer sale which runs from June to July.

This is not my first time in Seoul but definitely more sale this time.

I will go through and provide reviews to other Korean products I bought for myself in the next weeks, so please watch out!

I have also started my online store in Instagram:

@skinlush_by_V

If anyone from Philippines who is interested in buying some of my products, please let me know!! I have not updated my page yet but please stay tuned.

I will also be in Hong Kong in few weeks and will definitely grab some items from there as well then I will be back in Korea this October.

Anyway, let me start my review:

I have been searching for a good product that will help in minimizing my pores while removing blackheads and sebum on my face. Then I came across this special product of Innisfree.

I went to one of their stores and asked one of their beauty experts. She mentioned that this is one of their best sellers but it is not advisable if you have senisitive skin or if you are looking for pimple treatment because this product might not help.

It came in a fancy bottle. I was super excited to try it so I immediately read the instruction at the box. It says, apply all over face and wait for 15-20minutes then wash face with lukewarm water.

After only 5 minutes look how the mask sits on my face! You will notice all those pores immediately, it doesn’t look that nice to be honest but I can say that I feel like it is getting through my pores removing all dirt and sebum.

Then after 20minutes, I already rinsed off with water. Unfortunately I do not have an aftermath photo but I assure you how squeaky clean my face feels! I also notice more visible pores now prolly because it tried to open all my pores and remove all clogged dirt and sebum which I like.

I am thinking that it will definitely help minimize my pores once it is already clean from dirt and oil. Other than my visible pores I do not see any other significant changes but hopefully with continuous use of this product, I’ll be satisfied and will buy more this October.

By the way, although the product is just small – you will see how little product you need to cover the entire face! This mask is recommend to be used for twice a week only and I can say it may last more than three months.

This product is at 13,000 won for 100ml.

Thanks for reaching til the end! I will add more reviews as soon as I can. 😘

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, guys!

Love,

Van ❤️

Faustina’s @ UPLB

Hello There!

Welcome back to my page. ❤️

Today, I will provide a brief review on Faustina’s here at UPLB.

Their restaurant is located just beside the campus (Raymundo gate) of University of the Philippines Los Baños.

It has been in business for about 5 years now. I revisited them to check out their food as it has been more than three years since my last visit.

Their area is cozy although a bit small. I wonder how many students will fit in here. They have a lot of food choices but a bit pricier for students but definitely cheaper if you are used to eating at restaurants.

We tried one of their best sellers called Silindro ribs. It comes with barbecue sauce and spicy vinegar. We also ordered junior size alfredo with bacon although we didn’t like it that much.
Their Silindro is at 195php while their Alfredo is at 95php.

The overall ambiance is perfect for students who want to distress from school works and the likes.

I hope to be able to come back again soon!
Love,

Van

Buracai de Laiya

Hello loves,

Today I wanted to provide a brief review on one of the newest resorts in Laiya, Batangas.

Philippines celebrated Independence Day last June 12th. That means, happy long weekend for us employees. We spent two nights and three days to a resort called Buracai de Laiya.

It took us around 3-4 hours to get there from Manila. We left the house at 10AM and arrived at around 2PM. Maybe without traffic, it could be around 2-3 hours.

We used the mobile application waze to make sure that we get to the destination as the resort is a bit located at the farthest part of Laiya. Although there will be tour guides when you reach Laiya, I still recommend to check it with Waze. However, there would be areas without internet connection so I suggest for you to save your map first.

Buracai de Laiya is situated right after the more known resorts such as Aquatico and Aqua Verde which are both fully booked that time.

When we arrived at our destination, a person in the front desk asked how many people will be staying in one room, because the room that we got could only accommodate 3 adults and 1 child. We need to pay 1,500 php for every additional person beyond the allowed number of persons per room4. They also have mandatory payment of 1000php per head on top of the 7,500 room rate which we think is very unreasonable.

The 1,000php covers breakfast and dinner buffet. As per their management, it is a policy for weekend guests.

Our room is really small but the good part is it has balcony and a sea view. From there we could easily check their swimming pool and beach area.

We had our  merienda in their restaurant. They serve good food although it is a bit pricey for their serving. We do not have a choice by the way because there is no nearby restaurants or even supermarket within the area.

However, when we had our dinner buffet, we are not satisfied with their food choices as well as the food itself. We thought that we will never come back to add to our frustration that there is no mobile signal in their resort!

We survived three days without communicating to anyone though.

We love their infinity pool although it could be very crowded because they also accommodate day tours. But we did not like the beach. There were sharp stones and shells so definitely I do not encourage you to walk barefoot on the shore.

Overall, I think the price for this resort is too high given their ammenities and service. Although it could be a very good opportunity for families and friends to bond because there are less distractions. It feels like you are isolated in an island, away from social media and other stuff. You can just spend time over food, swim, or even try some beach activities. They offer snorkling, scuba diving, banana boat, flying fish, kayak, parasailing, and a lot more!

Thanks for reading!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Tale as old as time

My Las Casas Story.

Our department decided to hold our team building at Las Casas, Bataan.

It was last April 22-23, 2017. Since I was part of the committee, we had to go to the place earlier to check the site and make sure that everything will go smoothly as expected. We had to meet at around 4:30 AM at Jollibee, Pasay road and left around 5:15 AM. We had one stop over at NLEX gasoline station to buy some chips, water and other stuff.

The Crew:

We arrived at the location around 9 in the morning and headed straight to its office. We made sure to discuss everything to our activity coordinator to help us set up our mini amazing race. It was already humid and hot but we had to check the perfect spots for every stations. Our activity coordinator advised us to wait til 2pm to check in but we could already have our lunch. While waiting for others, we had 3 scoops of home made icecream for 100php. It was superb actually but a bit expensive for an icecream. After all, it was really hot so we decided to still have it than buying a bottle of small mineral water for 35php!

If you are planning to go here, make sure you have enough water because everything here from drinks to food could be very expensive.

We also took the chance to have some pictures while we are still not that busy.

We really love this place! So iconic and it feels like there was a time machine which brought us back to 1800s.

Although everything is indeed picture perfect, we still got a lot of things to do and had to go back to work and continue planning for our activities and dinner afterwards.

Here are some of the photos during our team lunch and team activities:

We had our dinner near the river side and it was perfect! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take any pictures. Bohoo. We had bonefire afterwards and had some drinks.

By the way, we had our lunch, merienda and dinner in Las Casas but wasn’t really satisfied with their food choices. Since I was part of the committee, I asked around if they were satisfied with their meals but it seems like they are equally disappointed. I’m pretty sure they can do better on this area though. Hopefully by the time we come back this June with my family.

But I had to take credit on their buffet breakfast! We really loved it that we had to go back three times. We were hungry like that. 🐷

Overall, I really had a great time at Las Casas! I even recommended this to my friends, family and anyone looking for a quick escapade from the busy city in Metro Manila.

Their room rates though could be a little steep but they offer anniversary sale and such when you try to book it via mobile!

We already are booked this June 13 for only 7k and we already got a two floor room. Very spacious for a family of 7!

I will definitely update you once we are back. Also hoping for a better weather.

Spending Mother’s Day at APU restaurant, City of Dreams

Let me share with you my thoughts and impressions on this classic Filipino Cusine in City of Dreams Manila.

I was browsing the internet the day before Mother’s day to see where I can bring my mom for lunch. I know that malls would be full and it would be difficult to reserve seats for lunch especially if we are in a group of more than 5. Also, I wanted to make my mom feel more special by bringing her to a decent restaurant. Somewhere she has never been.

I was initially checking restaurants in Sofitel such as Spiral but as expected, price is really steep! So I checked City of Dreams instead. I have been to couple of restaurants in COD such as Erwins and Red Ginger but for me nothing fancy or special for both. Although personally I still prefer Erwins since I am more of a chicken-burger person. I tried to browse all other restaurants within City of Dreams until I came across APU. What caught my attention is that they are serving Filipino food, the place looks fancy yet cozy. I also checked their menu and they have a lot of food choices and although it is also pricey, I find it way better than the others within the same range.

My mom standing from the outside of APU

My daughter and I. On mom’s day, they have prepared a corner good for picture taking.
It was my mom, dad and sister who arrived first at the venue so they decided where to seat. I also learned that on weekends and holidays they do not accept any reservations and with that, one should be there early to ensure that they could accommodate you. After more than 20 minutes of waiting, three buko juices were served. It is funny how it took them approximately 20minutes to prepare buko juices served in a nut shell. We even came first before their drinks got served.

Then a guy waiter approached us and handed us a tablet where we could check on their menu. We ordered several dishes such as Bicol express, Beef Nilagang, Fried Lumpia, Ensaladang Mangga, Lechon Kawali, and Chopseuy.

Surprisingly, their serving size is big except for rice. We ordered 6 cups of plain rice which costs 480 pesos but it seems like still not enough for us. I had to order 1 additional cup of garlic rice for hundred bucks.

We enjoyed our food while we catch-up. We asked for additional soup for 80 pesos since we wanted more. Their mango in Ensaladang Mangga is too sour that we could not finish it. Their Bicol Express is also not that spicy. I know they can do better than that given its price.

But overall, we still had a great experience in this restaurant. They have also approachable and accommodating staff. One of them even offered to take our photos as many as we want. Although you will need to constantly remind them to refil your water. But it is just a minor area for improvement.
We paid around 5K for all we ordered inclusive of 500 php service charge.

Still, two thumbs up! You can easily fall in love with the place – their interior design, ambiance and their crowd. I will recommend this to my friends and will definitely be back soon. 👍🏼
