To the one that got away..

Hi,

I was just browsing my email when I saw this one. I cannot remember why you sent me this or why it seems like we were falling apart. Already.

Until now I could not understand what went wrong. All I remember is, we had one huge fight, said something I didn’t really mean. And then you were gone.. You know I tried my best to keep us  together but you pushed me away and I never felt so lonely and alone. All I see was you. I’ve seen you in every places that we’ve been to. I kept on praying to see you, even just to see you. I was at my worst. But everytime I look back, all I remember is the fullness of our love. We were so young back then but the feeling is sureal. Something unmeasurable. Something great. Something irreplaceable.

You may not know, but I was able to establish a better relationship with my mom. And I thank you for that. I was also able to know my self more. The process was not easy but definitely all worth it.

You may not be able to read this. I really hope that you don’t. But atleast I was able to say these things to you.

Thanks for everything. Good and bad. Memories I will treasure forever. You will always be my ‘the one that got away’. I wish you all the best and I am happy that you have finally found the one. 🙂

Always.

House of Zhou at Solaire Resort and Casino

I will be sharing my reviews on one of the restaurants within Solaire Resort and Casino.

It was one Saturday night when my in-laws invited us to have dinner at House of Zhou – a Chinese restaurant in Solaire because they could use their points as a regular Casino player. We arrived at the place a bit late though because we still had to wait for my brother in law so we could go all together.

When we arrived at around 10pm, our table is already set for 8 persons. I noticed that only three tables are occupied that time. I wonder if it is because it is already late, its price range, or its location being on the vip suites in Sky Tower building.

We checked the menu and some of their dishes are really expensive. Their Yoshihama is around 14,000 php. But some dishes would range at 300-1,000 php. They offer a lot of Asian food choices which is good.

We loved most of what we ordered, although their serving is quite small for its price.

Our total bill is around 4,500-5,000 php which is not bad considering that this restaurant is within the VIP area. They also have very attentive food servers and made sure to check on us every now and then.

They also served unlimited tea and would refill every few minutes to ensure that our drink remains hot. I honestly love their tea as it is not that strong compared to the normal ones such as Twinnings. They also served unli veggies to go with our food.

Overall, I think it could be an ideal date place if you are a fan of Asian food specifically Chinese cusine. It would also be a perfect spot if you want your date to be a bit more intimate, private, and away from the huge crowd visiting Solaire Resort and Casino.

It would also be good if you could call the restaurant first to ensure that they could reserve a table for you if you are coming in a group.

House of Zhou is located at the second floor of Sky Tower within Solaire Resort and Casino. I have linked below their website in case you would like to check more photos and their menu as well.

Spending Mother’s Day at APU restaurant, City of Dreams

Let me share with you my thoughts and impressions on this classic Filipino Cusine in City of Dreams Manila.

I was browsing the internet the day before Mother’s day to see where I can bring my mom for lunch. I know that malls would be full and it would be difficult to reserve seats for lunch especially if we are in a group of more than 5. Also, I wanted to make my mom feel more special by bringing her to a decent restaurant. Somewhere she has never been.

I was initially checking restaurants in Sofitel such as Spiral but as expected, price is really steep! So I checked City of Dreams instead. I have been to couple of restaurants in COD such as Erwins and Red Ginger but for me nothing fancy or special for both. Although personally I still prefer Erwins since I am more of a chicken-burger person. I tried to browse all other restaurants within City of Dreams until I came across APU. What caught my attention is that they are serving Filipino food, the place looks fancy yet cozy. I also checked their menu and they have a lot of food choices and although it is also pricey, I find it way better than the others within the same range.

My daughter and I. On mom’s day, they have prepared a corner good for picture taking.
It was my mom, dad and sister who arrived first at the venue so they decided where to seat. I also learned that on weekends and holidays they do not accept any reservations and with that, one should be there early to ensure that they could accommodate you. After more than 20 minutes of waiting, three buko juices were served. It is funny how it took them approximately 20minutes to prepare buko juices served in a nut shell. We even came first before their drinks got served.

Then a guy waiter approached us and handed us a tablet where we could check on their menu. We ordered several dishes such as Bicol express, Beef Nilagang, Fried Lumpia, Ensaladang Mangga, Lechon Kawali, and Chopseuy.

Surprisingly, their serving size is big except for rice. We ordered 6 cups of plain rice which costs 480 pesos but it seems like still not enough for us. I had to order 1 additional cup of garlic rice for hundred bucks.

We enjoyed our food while we catch-up. We asked for additional soup for 80 pesos since we wanted more. Their mango in Ensaladang Mangga is too sour that we could not finish it. Their Bicol Express is also not that spicy. I know they can do better than that given its price.

But overall, we still had a great experience in this restaurant. They have also approachable and accommodating staff. One of them even offered to take our photos as many as we want. Although you will need to constantly remind them to refil your water. But it is just a minor area for improvement.
We paid around 5K for all we ordered inclusive of 500 php service charge.

Still, two thumbs up! You can easily fall in love with the place – their interior design, ambiance and their crowd. I will recommend this to my friends and will definitely be back soon. 👍🏼
